Proclamations
What is a Proclamation?
A proclamation is an official document issued by the Village Council or Mayor to commemorate a specific time period or event for the purpose of raising awareness, or celebrating milestones.
How to Request a Proclamation
A proclamation may be requested via email or written letter. Such a request must mee the guidelines for a proclamation below and submitted at least 4 weeks before it is needed to allow adequate time for the request to be considered. The Village reserves the right to modify or deny any proclamation request for any reason.
Guidelines for a Proclamation
Proclamations must convey a Village significance to residents, businesses, or others in or around Covington. The individual making the request should be part of any organization they are requesting a proclamation for, and hold a position to be authorized to make requests on behalf of the group (ex. President, Executive Director, Coordinator, etc.).
Proclamations will be generally considered for the following:
- To raise awareness about issues affecting residents, businesses, or others in or around Covington.
- To commemorate specific events or milestones of significance to Covington's history or future.
- To commemorate specific personnal or business milestones of significance to Covington.
Proclamations will not be considered for the following:
- Grand Openings
- Marriages / Anniversaries / Etc.
- Fundraisers, generally
- To act as an endorsement for individual people, products, or services
