Covington Fire & Rescue has provided services to the Village of Covington as a separate entity since 2016 when the Village of Covington Fire Department merged with the Covington Rescue Squad.  This new entity provides fire protection, rescue operations and emergency medical care to the Village and surrounding areas. Covington Fire & Rescue is committed to fire and injury prevention and their members are actively involved in the community.

Covington Fire & Rescue Inc. is a 501 c3 non-profit corporation contracted for fire/EMS services. Their area of responsibility for fire & EMS covers approximately 36 square miles and includes the Village of Covington & Newberry Twp. They also provide fire coverage to Washington Twp. They also participate in AMAR (Automatic Mutual Aid Response), as well as area wide mutual aid agreements, assisting each other whenever the need arises. Covington Fire & Rescue members stand ready to assist you and they are proud to provide the highest levels of customer service.

They currently have 44 members consisting of volunteer firefighters and part-time Paramedics/EMT’s. The organization is led by the Fire Chief, Asst. Chief of Fire, Asst Chief of EMS, Captain, four Fire Lieutenants and one Lieutenant of EMS. The Fire Chief reports to the Board of Trustees.

Their current apparatus includes Engine 1- a 2016 Pierce Rescue/Pumper, Engine 3- a 2003 Pierce Saber Pumper/Tanker, Tanker 2- a 2006 Pierce Pumper/Tanker, Grass 8- a 2003 Chevy Grass Truck, Truck 4- a 2015 Chevy Utility Pickup Truck, Medic 51- a 2007 Medtec/International ambulance, Medic 52- a 1996 Mobile Medical Freightliner ambulance. Both ambulances are equipped as advanced life support units.

In July of 2017, the Covington EMS combined with the Covington Fire Department in this same facility and the facility at 1000 Dick Minnich Drive was sold. By merging into the complex at 801 E. Broadway St. allowed EMS services to have staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Training and providing quality service to our community is the primary focus for Covington Fire & Rescue, Inc. They continually strive to find new and better ways to improve services to the community.
