Police Officer
The Village of Covington, Ohio (pop. 2,548), is accepting applications for either entry level or lateral full-time positions of Police Officer. The Village has a department of seven sworn officers and one administrative assistant. The Village will have multiple retirements in 2023 and is looking for the future of its department. Officers within the department have worked for Covington for an average of almost 17 years. Once you join our Village, you will understand why people stay.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age; possess a valid Ohio driver’s license; have no felony record or convictions of a crime of violence; possess a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; and be a commissioned Ohio Peace Officer. Prior to employment the successful candidate must successfully complete a background investigation, computerized voice stress examination, psychological examination, physical examination, oral interview, and pre-employment drug screening.
The Village of Covington has a generous benefits package which includes all Federal holidays, sick leave and three personal days off per year, health insurance and Village funded HSA, and consistent and scheduled working hours. Vacation is earned at two weeks after the first year until maxing out at five weeks after 19 years.
