Tim Cline, Police Chief

Biography

Officer Cline joined the Covington Police Department as a Patrolman and School Resource Officer in 2014, he was then promoted to Sergeant in 2019. In October 2023, then Mayor Ed McCord appointed him Acting Chief following the retirement of long-time Chief Lee Harmon. In January 2024, the now Mayor Harmon appointed him as Police Chief. 

Chief Cline is a 2006 graduate of Arcanum High School and a 2010 graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology. In addition to the Police Department, Chief Cline also serves as a Firefighter/EMT for Covington Fire & Rescue since 2017, having served with Versailles Fire & EMS for 6 years prior to coming to Covington.

Chief Cline is a certified School Resource Officer, the Department's A.L.I.C.E. Instructor, and an active member of the Covington Tomorrow service organization (previously known as the Covington Noon Optimist Club). He also sits on other various boards and committees in Miami County Law Enforcement.

Chief Cline lives in Covington with his wife and two children.
